An oversized number 6 rears up and curls inward with a gentle, flowing effect. Punchy color and painted texture converge in one powerful vision. A distinct highlight to any collection. This unframed piece measures approximately 39.75" x 31.5".

Reverse side of canvas reveals a handwritten inscription that reads, "J. Johns. 1960-66".

Jasper Johns (American, 1930-) was born in Augusta, Georgia. He is closely associated with a number of art movements, including pop art, Neo-Dada, and abstract expressionism. His contributions to contemporary art are colossal; Johns' depictions of the American flag are veritable capsules of feeling that have influenced and inspired countless millions of viewers. Today, Johns' work can be found in major museums and private collections the world over.
