Description
A carved wooden vessel with raised handle forms, and central band with diamond shaped designs. The Milk pail was used to gather milk by the tribe and then transferred to another vessel. The Zulu would call these vessels "Ithunga" and would consider such objects as heirlooms and hand them down from one generation to the next. The vessel measures 13.5 x 7 inches. provenance: Dr Brian healy estate, NY
