American Classical Mahogany Tall-Post Bed

ca. 1825, Philadelphia, school of Anthony Quervelle, each segmented turned post with acanthus and foliate carvings, ring turnings and square bases retaining period roundel-form bolt covers, the head posts supporting an anthemion- and leaf-carved headboard over a pair of panels.

In very good "as found" original condition. The surface appears to have been cleaned and polished. It exhibits normal mars, abrasions and dings consistent with age and use. There are chips/losses to the edge of the bottom turning of posts, and on the lower edge of one bed bolt cover. Five turned bed bolt covers accompany the piece, apparently original. The bed bolts appear to be the original save one replacement.
