Agnes Bernice Martin, born in Canada, was an American abstract painter. Her work has been defined as an "essay in discretion on inward-ness and silence.

Agnes Martin's most recognizable pieces are her grid paintings, which were inspired by the idea of innocence. In these works, she oftentimes modified the proportions of her grid and noted that, "When I cover the square surfaces with rectangles. It lightens the weight of the square, destroys its power."

Good aged condition, paper is slightly discolored by age. Right edge has a slight abrasion to the surface of the paper. There is a spot in the upper right quadrant.
