Description

FINE AND EARLY CANADA GOOSE by the L.T. Ward Bros., Crisfield, MD, circa 1902's. Bishops Head model in excellent old working paint by Lem Ward. Very good structural condition with old repaired check at mid-neck. Head cocked sharply right and downward with protruding breast and V-carved tail. Weights removed. Retains old jelly label with typed notation: "L.T. Ward Brothers, Crisfield, Maryland. Bishops Head Club." See "North American Decoys", Fall 1978, page 12, and Richard A. Bourne Co., August 24, 1968, catalog (both accompany this lot) for almost identical examples. An exceptional piece of early American folk art. 6000-9000
