AN ANTIQUE SWITZERLAND MAP, "Exactissima Helvetiæ, Rhætiæ, Valesiæ Cæterorumq Confœderatorum ut et Finitimoum Populorum Regionum Tabula," after NICHOLÆS VISSCHER, AMSTERDAM, CIRCA 1730, Amsterdam, hand colored engraving on paper, "Ex Conatibus Nicholai Visscher, Amst: Bat: Cum Privil Præpotentiß Ordinum General Belgü Fæderati," sculpt. Hoogenboom, hand numbered U/R fifty-two; plate: 18 3/4" x 23". Note: Nicolæs Visscher (Dutch 1618-1679), cartographer began a family business of printmaking, a tradition of excellence that continued well into the 18th century through his descendants. Provenance: Property from a Corporate Art Collection.
Condition
Toning of paper, darkening and destabilized color, some tears, darkened spots, possible foxing in lower corner, mild creases and dimples, surface smudges and wear, but overall in good condition, wear commensurate with age.
