after FREDERICK CRUICKSHANK (British 1800-1868) TWO WATERCOLOR PORTRAITS, "Sir St Vincent Keene Hawkins-Whitshed Bart., Sir St Vincent Bentinck Hawkins Whitshed Bart.," painted on paper in 1912 by Renira Pollard from originals painted in 1854 by Frederick Cruickshank; the father: 23"Â x 17", the son: 21"Â x 15". Note: This Australian baronetcy was created specifically for Sir St Vincent Keene Hawkins Whitshed and ended with the death of the third baron in 1871. Sir Keene H. Whitshed's granddaughter Elizabeth Hawkins Whitshed (1860-1934) was the famous mountaineer photographer, author and an early female film maker also known as; Mrs. Fred Burnaby, Mrs. Main and Mrs. Aubrey Le Blond.
Condition
Overall good condition, the father has some tiny scattered foxing and a small tear lower left. Each has some paper yellowing from age and is framed, glazed and matted with descriptive printed details.  Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
