Description
Greece, Magna Graecia, ca. 340-330 B.C A delicately potted black-glazed skyphos decorated with tendrils and grape vine in added red, white and yellow pigment. A well preserved, choice example. Height 3-1/8". Gnathia ware is so named as it was first found at the Apulian site of Egnathia, where the black glaze ware is often decorated with surface applied red, white or yellow floral motifs.
