American Late Classical Walnut Tall-Post Bed

second quarter 19th century, the segmented turned and octagonal posts supporting a headboard with a faceted "blanket roll" crest with acorn-form finials; will accommodate a standard queen-size box spring and mattress.
h. 96", inside w. 60-1/2", l. 84", outside w. 67", l. 90"

Condition

In very good polished and restored condition. There are normal mars to the wood, and a handful of scrapes or abrasions to the finish. The assembled bed is tight and very sturdy at the junctures of the posts and rails. All brass bolt covers present. The side rails are later replacements, presumably to extend the bed to modern queen size.
