Description
Copeland parian figure, 'The Dancing Girl, after the W. Calder Marshall marble sculpture, circa 1846, depicting a partially draped woman holding a tambourine, resting on a circular base, marked on the front ART UNION OF LONDON 1848, and on the back COPELAND; the side of the stump on which the figure leans is marked 'Marshall Fect. Cheverton Sculp.' 18"h x 5.75"w x 5.5"d.
Note: The original of this parian figure was included in the Copeland display at the Great (Crystal Palace) Exhibition in 1851. The figure is also illustrated in 'The Parian Phenomenon,' page 153.
