Description
Superb ca.1850 open face double escapement pocket watch, probably made by Bovet Fleurier for the Chinese market. Magnificent enameled and gilt silver case, depicting a French maiden. Adorned with 2 rows of seed pearls. The silver case is stamped with Pseudo English hallmarks, which are typical to Chinese export silver makers of the time. Also bears 19th century French import marks (2 swan hallmarks and "Depose"). Enamel dial with Roman numerals and center seconds, movement with all-over engraved decoration (apparently unmarked). Diameter: 55 mm. Unknown working order.
