Decorative Colonial Period Westerwald Stoneware Jug
c. 1750-1780 Colonial Period, Decorative Westerwald Stoneware Jug, 7" tall, Very Fine.
A choice quality example in appearance with nice eye appeal for display. This historic decorative German made Stoneware was quite popular and imported into both Britain and Colonial America. This example measures about 7" tall x 4" diameter wide at center x 2.5" diameter at the base. Jug has seen expert conservation to hairline cracks at some point and is whole and solid. It displays well with it's cobalt blue design with a blue-gray background and many decorative devices.
