c. 1850s, Engraved Hand-Colored Portrait of George Washington, Period Framed, Choice Very Fine.
This Engraved Portrait of George Washington measures about 8" x 10.5" (by sight), matted and housed under glass in a gold painted wood frame to 16.5" x 19" (not examined out of frame). Central portrait shows Washington, After Gilbert Stuart, with a tinted face in waist-up pose surrounded with hand-colored floral border. Above the image is a vignette showing a quill, his sword and a paper titled "Farewell Address". Below the image is a smaller vignette depicting General Washington addressing the troops with "Washington" printed below.
