Both monogrammed, mirror marked for Gorham, brush marked for R. Wallace & Sons.
Longest: approx. 9".
Provenance: From the descendants of Jonathan Winship III (Massachusetts, 1780 – 1843.) A sailor and business man, Winship and his brothers are credited with making the first recorded sea entry into Humboldt Bay, California in 1806, and later assisting King Kamehameha of Hawaii with negotiating with local rulers and unifying the islands. The British fleet pushed the Winships out of the Pacific during the war of 1812, and Jonathon took refuge in Canton, China. While there, he took up the study of horticulture, and upon his return to America helped found The Massachusetts Horticultural Society.
