Signed: Bailey, Kettell & Chapman / Boston / Coin
Comprising a pitcher (10" H x 9.5" W x 6.5" D), two goblets (each: 6.625" H x 3.5" Dia.), a waste bowl (4" H x 5.25" Dia.), and a tray (1.5" H x 20.5" W x 15.75" D) adorned with chased illustrations of a steam engine model 440 and the Russell House, inscribed: Presented to James E. Russell by a few of his friends 1857, the goblets and waste bowl further monogramed: JER

Provenance: Gifted to James E. Russell, thence by descent through the family to the present owner.
Notes: The train motif and Russell House depicted on the tray in honor of James E. Russell, elected as director of the Boston & Albany Railway in 1846 and later listed as a conductor on the Western Railroad in 1856 (this railroad leased the rail from the Boston & Albany Railway).

Overall good condition with tarnishing and light scratches commensurate with age. Scattered minor dents throughout.
