Includes a thorough and authoritative biography of Shakspere by editor Charles Knight which is revised from his 1843 biography. Impressed leather with marbled endpapers and decorative filt dentelles on inside edges of covers. Full-page steel engravings are on heavy paper. All edges gilt. Full decorated leather with five raised bands on spine. Vol. 1 - Front cover detached. Three tips exposed; some scuffing to extremities; rear joint split about 4” at bottom. Repair to tears at foot of spine. 4” light circle on front cover. Interior very good plus with plates in excellent condition. Vol. 2 – Tips exposed; small split at top joints.
