Description

Complete nine-volumes (six My Book House and three My Travelship). The iconic wooden house is still in great condition. Top ply is missing from inside and outside of the window dividers on one side of the house (easily reparable). Foundation on one side missing ¼” of top ply most of the way across – also reparable. Roof and chimney intact with both lower corners of roof worn slightly. Paint still mostly intact with a few small areas missing paint. This is a classic set of books edited by Olive Beaupre Miller and published by The Bookhouse for Children of Chicago. Publish dates range from 1920 to 1928. The set has hundreds and hundreds of full-color illustrations, many of them full-page. Two of the larger Travelship books are illustrated by Maud and Miska Petersham. The other one is illustrated by Katherine Sturges. As you leaf through the pages of the Book House set you’ll see illustrations by Donn P. Crane, Muriel Whilhoite, Maud & Miska Petersham, Palmer Cox, Willy Pogany and many more famous book illustrators of the early 20th century. My Book House with mixed 14th printing with one 16th printing volume. All books in the My Book House set are clean and straight and at least Very Good with the exception of Volume One (In The Nursery). Overall in very good condition with the following condition issues: ONE (In The Nursery) – this is the only book in the entire set with serious condition issues. Cover pastedown half torn off; head of spine ripped; foot of spine frayed. Two tips just starting to peek through. Front hinge weak with title page and first couple of pages torn out. Overall poor. TWO (Up One Pair of Stairs) – Top tips just barely starting to peek through. Tiny bit of fraying at head of spine. Tiny bit of very light scratching to pastedown. Overall Very Good. THREE (Through Fairy Halls) – Similar to TWO except all four tips peeking. Overall Very Good Minus. FOUR (The Treasure Chest) – Tiny bit of fraying at head of spine. Overall Very Good. FIVE (From the Tower Window) – No major condition issues. Very Good Plus. SIX (The Latch Key) – Very sharp copy. Very Good Plus to Near Fine. MY TRAVELSHIP: (Tales Told in Holland) – Some light spotting to front cover; sunning to spine. Otherwise clean and solid. Overall Very Good. (Little Pictures of Japan) – Top two tips just barely starting to peek through. Head of spine with some light fraying and bumping. Otherwise clean and solid. Overall Very Good. (Nursery Friends From France) – No major condition issues. Overall Very Good Plus. My Book House - 7.25 x 9.375. Approx. 440 pp. each. My Travelship – 8.5 x 11. About 190 pp. each.
