Estate-Fresh, American Violin Made by Nehemiah Watson while living in Mystic Connecticut in 1909. With full biography of the maker, and subsequent family members who owned the violin. Together with Family photos of the violin during a visit to the Yale University Collection of Musical Instruments where another Nehemiah Watson Violin currently resides. The violin is full size (14" body length). Spruce top, maple neck, and ebony fingerboard. The inside of the back is inscribed in black ink: "Made by Nehemiah Watson Mystic 1909". Violin is complete and solid, with lots of fine polishing lines, a few old areas of built up finish, some old finish checking, one fine line in the top from the button about 4" to the center, some general fingerboard wear and use. Housed in a Walnut bent wood and carved case, with felt lining, (lots of wear and patina on the case) an inlaid ebony tailpiece and a 29" round Wilhelm bow (straight, serviceable) are included.
