Beautiful Arts and Crafts movement tile by Batchelder Los Angeles.; From 1909 to 1932 the Batchelder company in Los Angeles made some of the finest Arts and Crafts movement tiles. This is a fine example. The design - stylized pomegranates? - are molded in high relief, accentuated by a moorish style border. The tile is unglazed (bisque), with the background matte teal. The brown coloring on the design area has worn in the high areas, creating an attractive finish.; Excellent condition, with one small chip just below the rim on the right side near the front corner. Batchelder tiles are often unmarked, a bonus to this tile is that it is fully marked.; 3 3/4" square by 1/2" thick.
