Charles Levier (New York, California, France, 1920- 2003) 24" H x 30" W oil on canvas titled, "LaTour." Signed lower right, "Levier." Also signed and titled on verso by the artist, and museum number 62-1, and tag reading, "Gift of Mr. and Mrs. John Lord Booth." Charles was born in Corsica. At the age of 17, he studied at the Ecole National Superievre des Arts Decoratifs. Levier then served int eh French Army in World War II. He later came to America to live and traveled back and forth from France, preparing for his one man show at the Galerie Constintine in Lyons in 1949. In 1950 he went to Los Angeles and later showed at Lilienfeld Gallery in New York. He was a highly successful painter. His paintings are found throughout the world. Frame 35" H x 40" W.
