He was highly critical of much in Victorian society, especially on the declining status of rural people in Britain. Published by Harper & Brothers, Publishers, New York, Franklin Square, 1896. Green boards with still vivid gilt design to front board and gilt lettering on spine. Illustrated front piece with tissue guard. Firm binding and very minor wear to boards.
