Description
Extraordinal, Rare, Chinese 17th Century Qing Dynasty Period, Qianlong mille fleur bowl. The finest porcelain potted with a bulbous body, of a deep vessel, with a straight opening lip, raised on a small round, slightly raised concave footing. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered famille rose design color with mille fleur decoration. Famille rose hand painting depicted vividly hand painted in enamel design, famille rose translates to the pink family, on a colored ground decoration. Each bulging sides enclosing colorful falangcai, famille rose on a colored ground decoration, of Bajixiang. The Mille Fleur decoration, meaning the "thousand flowers design" first appears in the late Yongzheng period becoming extremely popular in the Qianlong, usually on a gilt ground. The dense millefleurs design features naturalistic blossoming peonies, chrysanthemums, hibiscus, morning glories, roses, lotus flowers, daisies, lilies and pinks amidst an abundance of foliage, the mouth rims with gilt bands, the bases and interiors often turquoise-enameled on older pieces. The decoration was used to decorate a small group of wares, and while vases number among them, the design is more often seen on smaller pieces as bowls and cups. The Lines of the drawings are clear, the light and dark shades are subtle. The colors are harmonious, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese porcelain wares, with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, and the painting. Without overlap the outlines of the design, well carved, clear, subtle, distinct, and the shape is uniformly proportioned.
