The theme of a Polish woman of high birth obtaining pardon for her exiled parents from Emperor Alexander, at his coronation in 1801 was written with a historic view as well as a romantic lens, thus giving faithful descriptions of nature in remote corners of Russia as well as Elizabeth’s peasant attire.
