Description
Southeast Asia, Cambodia, Khmer Empire (Angkor culture), ca. 800 to 1300 CE. A classic example of a Khmer-period standing Buddha figure, here depicted pre-Enlightenment, in his finery as Prince Siddhartha. He stands with delineated legs atop an integral rectangular plinth, holds both arms out, and has sloping shoulders tracing inwards to a multi-stranded necklace. His wide face boasts almond-shaped eyes with elongated corners, a broad nose, full lips, and cupped ears adorned with dangling earrings, all beneath an elaborate crown with a cylindrical finial. Fine dark-brown patina envelops the entire figure. Size: 1.875" W x 6.2" H (4.8 cm x 15.7 cm); 9.2" H (23.4 cm) on included custom stand.
