A Rare Old Songye Kusu Twin Idol, African Tribal Art

Item Details

Description

This is an old and very fascinating Twin fetish from the Songye / Kusu Border region, Congo, Africa. The sculpture of twins is not at all common among the Songye, and this example has a painted surface that is divided among light and dark colors. The bottom of the sculpture ( not visible while on custom stand ) shows moisture decay and evidence of a long time on a shrine. The figure of twins measures 9.5 x 7.5 inches ( 11.75 inches tall when on custom display stand)
