Description

GERMAN WW2 TURKISTAN VOLUNTEER'S SLEEVE SHIELD
Third and final pattern, Turkistan Legion sleeve shield as introduced in mid-1944, and worn for the duration of the war.
The insignia consist of a roughly, 75mm tall, 60mm wide, vertically oval, screen printed shield with a fine, light blue, outer edge stripe, encompassing a blue, white and golden yellow mosque dome which is flanked by two side spires on a dark green background field. Both the mosque dome and the spires are topped with ornamental minarets.
The shield has blue Latin script superimposed on the mosque, "Turkistan", and yellow, ancient Turkic Jagatai script to the top edge, "T ri biz menen!", (God with Us!).
TEST: This particular item passed very important test - it does not glow under the black lamp (all fabrics and paper after 1945 glow under the black light) - please look at the images. Also the piece have an old smell that old authentic cloth keeps.

WIKIPEDIA: Among the approximately one million foreign volunteers and conscripts who served in the Wehrmacht during World War II were ethnic Germans, Belgians, Czechs, Dutch, Finns, French, Greeks, Hungarians, Norwegians, Poles, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedes and British, along with people from the Baltic states and the Balkans. Russian emigres and defectors from the Soviet Union formed the Russian Liberation Army or fought as Hilfswillige (approximately another 600,000 to 1,000,000 voluntary assistants) within German units of the Wehrmacht primarily on the Eastern Front. Non-Russians from the Soviet Union formed the Ostlegionen (literally "Eastern Legions"). These units were all commanded by General Ernst August Kostring (1876-1953) and represented about five percent of the forces under the OKH.
