Stamped: Elkington Plate / P / F
The silver-plated clamp raised on an oval stepped base bearing the armorial of the Prince of Wales's feathers over the motto "Ich Dien" (I Serve) raised on an oak plinth
8.25" H x 23" W x 12.75" W
Notes: Founded in the 1830s, Elkington was a leading manufacturer of silver plate and held Royal Warrants from Queen Victoria, King Edward VI, King George V, King Edward VIII and King George VI. Edward VIII was created Prince of Wales in 1910 and remained until he acceded the throne in 1936. It is possible this piece was made either for Edward VIII or one of the Welsh regiments that also use the Prince of Wales's feathers.
