Three-Color Beiderwand Coverlet With Maker's Name "CHARLES YOUNG MECHANICKSBURG 1841"
1841-Dated, American Three-Color Beiderwand Coverlet, with integral "Charles Young Mechanicksburg 1841," Choice Very Fine.
Woven Wool and Cotton Three-color, Two-piece, Beiderwand Coverlet, "CHARLES YOUNG MECHANICKSBURG 1841," Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. The center filled with clusters of rose blossoms with leafy vine and diamond borders, two corner blocks inscribed with maker's name, town, and date, in red, blue, and green wool on a creamy white cotton ground, fringed on two edges, (imperfections), measures about 88" x 82". Some minor tone, scattered small losses to primarily the dark blue wool, fringe losses, one edge has no hem, edge is worn to diamond pattern border. Colorful and attractive.
