Very unusual late Qing Dynasty (late 19th century to 1911) Chinese scholar’s rock made out of a natural stone with surface resembling low rolling hills or swirling clouds. I believe that type of nugget is called “clay aggregate”. Beautiful texture, mesmerizing flow of its lines, very pleasant patina, fitted rosewood stand. Could have been used as a brush rest or a scroll weight. Wonderful object for scholar’s desk. Length with stand 6 inches.
