An interesting tinned iron combination lantern and cooker standing about 14 inches tall. The base has a Plume and Atwood patented burner (1872/1873.) Fitted on to that is cone-shaped chimney with a small mica window, and fixed in place over that is a tinned iron cup the size of an army issue mess cup, with a bale handle. The sides of the cup are open and it is fixed in place, so it is not meant to hold liquids itself, but might have had an insert. The handle is obviously meant to make it easy to carry. It is clearly made for camp use and wood look great in a Western Frontier display.
