**Originally Listed At $400**

Ancient Near East, Achaemenid Persian Empire, ca. 550 to 330 BCE. A beautiful stamp seal bead, made from a warm red carnelian and pierced through laterally for suspension, bearing an incised glyph. This glyph would have had personal meaning, perhaps derived from Elamite cuneiform, one of the three languages used on the monuments of Achaemenid Persian kings. Size: 0.4" W (1 cm); 1.95" H (5 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Zaveloff collection, Lakewood, New Jersey, USA, acquired at auction before 2004

Light wear on surface commensurate with age including some small chips and scratches; the motif is nicely preserved with light deposits, mainly in the lower profile areas. Accompanied by a clay rollout of the motifs.
