Silver plated golf trophy, awarded by George M. McCandless in September, 1905 to the foursome of Rea, Shannon, McCandless and Moorhead Jr., three handles, engraved. John Moorhead Jr. was one of the first superstars of American football, playing alongside Walter Camp at Yale in the 1870's. He stayed very involved in Pittsburgh athletics and is even credited as being the first person to bring golf to the city. Provenance: From the collection of the Twentieth Century Club, Pittsburgh, PA.
Condition
