Title: Maxon Crumb Handwritten Page with Original Art
Place Published:
Publisher:
Date Published: c.1993
Description:
Original handwritten page by Maxon Crumb on 9" x 11.5" heavy paper. 1993 penciled on verso. Signed "MXN". Bottom corner torn away.
Appears to be a journal entry, although it may have been intended as a letter to an unknown recipient. R. Crumb's younger brother Maxon, an ascetic and artist of extreme intensity, presents an interesting glimpse into his inner world here. Amidst scattered musings about monks, Dharma and war, Maxon writes: "Maxon should draw now. Draw what? Naked girls I guess." True to his word, Maxon provides a finished pencil illustration of a naked lady traipsing down a city street, her outsized hands, feet and posterior perhaps showing the influence of brother Bob.
