German Silver Wine Cooler After Meissonnier
ca. 1900, Hanauer Silberwaren-Manufaktur, Hanau, probably .800 silver, after the 1723 design by Juste-Aurele Meissonnier (1695-1750) for Louis Henri de Bourbon, Duc de Bourbon, the collar decorated in the round with Bacchic figures, the lower half with panels of Neptune and Jupiter, with figural dolphin and nereid handles.

Condition
**Some minor dents around the base giving the piece a minor "wobble". Wear and fine scratches to the
 details from over-robust polishing. Minor casting bubbles throughout. Gilt interior with very minor
 spotting. Small spot of lead solder at the tails of one nereid indicate an old repair. No liner. The piece
 shows no evidence of being silver plated, but has not been tested and the silver purity cannot be
 guaranteed. The underside with imitation ancien regime French marks.
