Good lot of two leaflets related to the surrender of Japanese troops to U.S. forces in the Pacific Theater, includes: American propaganda leaflet written in Japanese, 1p. 4to., issued by the Commanding General of the Armed Forces Yamashita Tomoyuki, reading in part:"...This order to cease all wartime hostilities is being issued from the highest authority. Each soldier must cease fighting at once. You are further instructed to communicate this order to other fellow soldiers...Contact the nearest American unit and await further instructions."Â Fine. WITH: American propaganda leaflet, 2pp. oblong folio, untranslated on the verso yet bearing an image of a smiling Japanese prisoner being aided by an American GI. The front bears the text in English:"THE BEARER HAS CEASED RESISTANCE. TREAT HIM IN ACCORDANCE WITH INTERNATIONAL LAW. TAKE HIM TO THE NEAREST COMMANDING OFFICER."Â Minor spots of ink bleedthrough throughout, staple hole on the top edge, else very good to fine.
