Description:
Anti-Slavery Tract, No. 7 20pp. Original wrappers, string tied at spine, without covers (as issued).
The only one of the 24 Tracts issued by the Anti-Slavery Society in the mid 1850s, to be written anonymously, perhaps because of its incendiary title.
The author, a New England clergyman, was not actually advocating violent revolution by slaves against their masters - Foster was instead speaking of a figurative "revolution" to "renovate...the moral sentiments of the country" against the ingrained institution of slavery.
