Sawasa Box, Japan, probably 18th century, copper body with exchanges in silver and gold. Strictly rectangular jar with hinged lid. The wall is decorated all around in relief: the long sides with tendrils inhabited by birds and insects, the narrow sides each with an owl on a flowering branch. On the lid two women in kimonos with children, in the background architecture, framed by a lotus flower tendril. Slightly calc. & Dam., 3.4 x 7.5 x 4.6 cm
