Description
This lot consists of a watercolor illustration on paper, done in the style of Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita (Japanese, 1886-1968). Handwritten inscription at lower right reads, "Foujita". Image depicts the face of a cat with wide and beguiling eyes. Carefully detailed and filled with realistic value. This piece would be a fine addition to any modern art collection. Unframed measurements approximately 8" x 6".
Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita (Japanese, 1886-1968) was a painter and printmaker. Foujita applied Japanese ink techniques to his works of Post-Impressionism and Magical Realism. Foujita had strong ties to France, where he spent a great deal of his career. After Foujita's 1918 exposition in Paris, he became renowned for his images of women and cats.
