Description

Stoneware pottery advertising jar with double lug handles, marked "From Spire and Duff, Nanhville Tenn" in a banner (note Nashville is mispelled), below a 4-gallon capacity mark, with freehand cobalt line decoration at neck and bottom. Brown Albany slip interior. Condition: repaired area through the front of the jar, restoration of stencil lettering through this area of repair, 3/8" crack at handle (possibly as made), discoloration, firing flaws, but overall good condition. 16-1/2"H.
