Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok (Sawankalok) culture, Sukhothai Period, ca. 14th to 15th century CE. A gorgeous, full-bodied pottery jar with a rotund body, a squatted neck, and heavily tapered shoulders, all covered with lustrous glaze. The surface is lightly ridged across its horizontal plane with a beautifully glazed surface that is a sage green hue with a light brown undertone - presumably from its buffware. A nice craquelure accents the glaze which covers the evenly entirety of the vessel. Size: 9" W x 9.75" H (22.9 cm x 24.8 cm)
Provenance: ex-Ashland University Museum, Ashland, Ohio, USA, donated to Ashland University between July 1994 to December 1998

Chipping to glazed surface is evident in scattered areas. Remains of an old inventory label is present on the rim. Otherwise, in good condition with a beautiful sheen to its surface. Presents well!
