Description
1905 1ed History of EGYPT Egyptian Myths Pyramids Hieroglyphs Illustrated MAPS
An impressive and beautiful first edition of James Breasted’s ‘History of Egypt.’ His one-volume work was written for the increasing number of tourists visiting the Nile valley, those interested in Greek and Roman civilization, and students of the Old Testament. Drawing on his own four-volume ‘Records of Egypt,’ which contains translations of almost all of the ancient Egyptian historical inscriptions available, the book follows the conventional chronology. The work ends with 'the Decadence', invasions by Libyans and Nubians, and the Persian conquest after the battle of Pelusium in 525 BCE.
This 1905 first edition is filled with 200 illustrations depicting aspects of Egypt, geography, hieroglyphics, and topography with sections on the Pyramids, the Great Sphinx, human sacrifice, the Book of the Dead, mummification, and much more!
