A german red tortoiseshell, ebony, silver, ormolu and paste gem mounted prunkuhr case.Late 17th Century.Of tabernacle form, modelled with a female figure to the cresting,.flanked by figures of angels atop volute side pieces, with screaming mask mount above oval relief medallion depicting a female figure and angels atop a nimbus, with amorini below, one holding a book and the other a harp, the sides with floral vase mounts to one register and further classically-draped figures standing on projecting scrolls to the registers below, mounted with six spiral-twist columns with ormolu composite capitals, above stepped and moulded base applied with multi-colored foil-backed gem mounts and raised on tapering square section feet; with associated later silvered repose dial and French eight day twin barrels movement 38 1/2 inches (98cm) high
