Description
Wodehouse, P.G.
Autobiographical Typescript
No place but presumably Wodehouse's longtime home in America, Remsenburg, on New York's Long Island. Seven 8 1/2 x 11 in. sheets typed on rectos only, in three sections: (1)-3 pp. untitled, dated October 15, 1963 and addressed to Wodehouse's friend, biographer, and bibliographer, David A. Jasen: "Dear David. I Don't know if this will be of any use to you, but here is an outline of my childhood and early boyhood…"; (1)-2 pp. titled "1894 to 1900" and ending with "I'll try to get some more stuff for you later"; and (1)-2 pp. titled "1900-1902". Each section seemingly written separately, as two different paper stocks and typewriters appear to have been used. Interestingly, the stories contain some contradictions and repetitions, presumably the result of Wodehouse writing down stories as they occurred to him to be sent to Jasen. The content focuses on Wodehouse's childhood and experiences at various public schools in England, through to his early writing career. In a red cloth-covered fall-down-back box.
