Description
(King Features, c.1980) An original drawing of Donald Duck and Dennis the Menace by artist Hank Ketcham, who created the Dennis the Menace comic strip series. Prior to creating Dennis, Ketcham was known for his animation work on films such as Pinocchio, Fantasia, and Bambi, as well as several Donald Duck animated shorts. This drawing by Ketcham was created in response to Alan Hylton writing him and requesting a Pinocchio drawing. The response shows Donald barking at Dennis to "Tell your friend, Hylton, that the Pinocchio days were too long ago for me to remember!", with the note "Sorry about that, Alan" next to Ketcham's signature. Accomplished in ink on thin paper with some areas of light watercolor, the drawing has an image size of 11"x8.25" within its 14.5"x12" frame. The drawing has not been examined out of frame but appears to be in very good condition, with just a small spot of discoloration under the first "r" in the word "remember."
