Native American, North America, New Mexico, Santo Domingo Pueblo, ca. mid-19th century CE. A fine example of a long pistol with a hand-carved wooden stock of an unusual form. The thick backstock has a bulbous handle with a slender trigger beneath, and above is a tall hammer that articulates behind a petite percussion firing pin. The cylindrical iron barrel is secured to the forestock via a thin strip of iron, and a slender ram rod is stored in a thin housing beneath. Wonderful patina envelops each components of this unique firearm! Size: 22" L (55.9 cm).
