Tecali Stone Teotihuacan Maskette (250-450 AD)
With a broad sloped forehead, square ears, large nose, striking lips, and bold almond eyes, this piece has all of the classic features of the Teotihuacan mask, in a size likely worn as a pectoral. The stone is found near the village of Tecali. The Nahuatl (Aztec) name for the stone is Tecali, formed from the prefix for stone (te- from tetl, stone) to calle, meaning house.
