Joan Pijoan original, but it does not have a COA. Surrealism. Medium: Mixed media. Provenance: private owner from Spain. 25.5 x 23.5 inches.
Biography:Born in 1931 in Barcelona Spain, Joan Hernández Pijuan studied at the School of Arts Llotja (1947) and Saint Jordi Barcelona (1956). He produced compositions through uniform planes of neutral color in a simple yet expressive style. Pijuan has received numerous honors for his work and is considered one of the most significant Spanish painters of his generation.Collected and exhibited worldwide, Pijuan represented Spain in the 30th Venice Biennial (1964) and took part in the 51st Venice Biennale at the Italian Pavilion (2005). His work is included in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Modern Art, New York; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sweden, among others. Recent selected shows include Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (2003); Dittmar Gallery, Berlin (2012); and a retrospective at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2012).
