An Eastern Woodlands Pipe Tomahawk c. 1800 wood, metal, hide, dyed porcupine quills, glass seed beads, sinew Provenance: This lot is accompanied by a letter from Donald Ewing, dated September 1, 1988, which states in part, "This tomahawk was obtained from Richard Pohrt, Sr. of Flint, Mich. ... circa 1790 – 1830 – it is the style that the British used to arm the Indians after the American War of Independence."
