  • Provenance/Additional Info: made with 84 individual American Flag cigar box "blanket" or "flannels" that were used to cushion cigars for sale in the newly invented flat cedar box (rather than buying them in ribbon wrapped bunches). These American flags are depicted as flying with a lively rippled look, while international flags were flat straightforward images.early 20th cotton flannel, this is a completed quilt with batting and backing. Cigar flag quilts typically included groups of flags from many countries arranged to make a quilt with no particular aesthetic composition. This example pieced ONLY of American flags is a rarity for the type. In excellent condition with one mend short mend at the sashing
