Description
1950's palm frond (or banana leaf) cast solid aluminum footed tray. Signed Bruce Fox (1903-1960) for Royal Hickman model number "RH 5".
(The Royal Hickman Co later joined Haeger forming Royal Haeger).
Bruce Fox was a young artist, sculptor, and visionary in 1938 when, upon returning to the United States after an adventure through Central America, he founded his own company and began hand crafting decorative, yet functional objects.
While in Panama, Fox had learned the trade of metal-smithing in the native tradition, and decided to combine these traditional methods of metalworking with perhaps the most high-tech material of the era.
The piece is in excellent original condition with some minor scuff and scratches on the bottom.
Measurements:
25 1/2" long x 5 1/2" wide x 1 1/2" high
All items are sold "as is". The auction house does not warrant authenticity on any specific piece. THERE ARE NO RETURNS. We can only offer our opinion and the material facts about the item and its condition.
